Paris and the Seine

Paris and our last day....

semi-overcast 60 °F

We chose to not do the optional excursions offered by AMA, and instead headed out on our own after a leisurely morning. The metro/light rail system is relatively easy to navigate and we purchased a full day ticket for 6 Eur 60 - well worth it as it offers access to both the Metro and RER - the light rail system. Our first stop was to bid adieu to Napoleon at the Church of the Invaledes - a remarkable structure that, in addition to being Napoleon's tomb, is a function church. After pondering Napoleon, we headed to the Musee du Armee - the French Army Museum - to take in the memories of of Louis the XIII through Napoleon III. There are many other exhibits, but that was what we were interested in. We then jumped on the RER and paid homage to the Cathedral of Notre Dame - 850 years old this year - a remarkable building if ever there was one - equal to Rouen and St. Peters in many folks opinion. Today they have 4 different Masses on the schedule for those who want to attend. After that, it was time for some shopping for the grandkid and kids and back to the hotel to pack. AMA is a great experience and Paris IS the city for lovers given the number of PDA's witnessed. I highly recommend this trip for anyone!
