Norway and the Northern Lights

Bergen

semi-overcast 37 °F

For my first adventure of 2015 I and two friends have traveled to Bergen Norway to board the MS Midnatsol of Hurtigruten Cruise Lines, to travel Norway's inside passage to North Cape and back in hopes of seeing the Northern Lights in all their splendor. We had an uneventful plane ride through Atlanta and Amsterdam and arrived a day early late in the afternoon, and stayed the night at the Radisson Blu Norge, right in the middle of the city. We hit the bed after a nice dinner, and had a wonderful buffet breakfast before walking around center city on a cool and semi-overcast day. Since it is Sunday, most everything but the McDonalds, Starbucks and the 7-Elevens are closed. Bergen is a picturesque city where many folks from the outlying areas come for a weekend away to see the show at the theater that is next to our hotel. In a few minutes we will take the shuttle to the ship and start our adventure north of the Arctic Circle.
