Regent Seven Seas

sunny 68 °F

The block party was a great event. The cruise director and Captain quickly went through each deck on the ship and welcomed everyone on board. The Butlers and suite attendants dispensed wine and cheese and we got to know our neighbors - ours were from Ohio! During the event our Butler Shijil asked us if we would like to eat at the Steak house Prime 7, tonight. We have a reservation for later in the cruise, but several folks had cancelled due to the rough weather and they were able to squeeze us in at 6:45. The service and food was wonderful and we left content and stuffed.

After a leisurely morning we arrived at the pilot station at Five Fathom Hole, picked up the pilot and made our way into Hamilton. We ate lunch after the crowd and then took a taxi from Hamilton out to Dockyard ($50.00) so we could see how that area had developed. This is where the bigger cruise ships dock, and many of the shops and cafes are geared toward cruise passengers. It is also the home of the next America's Cup race and Team Oracle already had there shop set up.

We took another taxi on the way back so we could see a different part of the island, and we were hosted by Gilbert, a seventh generation Bermudian. We passed the church where he was married 51 years ago, as well as his ancestors and all of his daughters. His running commentary of the sites and history of Bermuda was quite remarkable! Once back in Hamilton, we did some shopping and settle back in on the ship for dinner and a quiet evening. We plan on doing some more shopping in the morning as we don't leave until 3:00pm tomorrow.
