We set our alarm clock so we would wake up for breakfast as it had been since the Chili's in the Detroit airport since we had had any decent food. The Ritz had a wonderful breakfast buffet that was a combination of eastern and western fare. I had some of each, which really hit the spot along with some fresh squeezed orange juice and hot coffee.

We talked to the concierge and she gave us a map of the city and a card to use to tell taxi's where to go. We headed out to the Temple of Heaven after a visit to the ATM in the mall attached to the hotel for a few more Yuen. It is a gorgeous park that is huge filled with a variety of Temples.

It was a beautiful walk through the green gardens even though we had some showers.

After exiting the South Gate we hired transportation to get us to the Zoo. My wife was brought up in Maryland around DC where the Panda's rule supreme. I would be in big trouble if I didn't at least see them.

The zoo itself is pretty shabby by US standards and probably would be shut down. But the Chinese are proud of the efforts to save the pandas and the exhibit is the highlight of the visit to the zoo.

We then hailed a cab and went back to the hotel to clean up and do dinner. All in all, a good day to help kill some jet lag
