A Travellerspoint blog

The United Kingdom

overcast 69 °F

We started our self drive adventure today with non eventful flights from Charleston to JFK and then to London Heathrow. Everyone has their 'go to' airline, but mine is Delta. They actually treat you like people, not cargo.
After arriving in London, we collected our bags and headed to Hertz to pick up our rental car. It was efficient, but the Brits collect a bunch more info than the US even for Gold Members. Because of Monday morning traffic, it took about 90 minutes on the beltway to get to Greenwich, our stop for today. After a shower and a nap, we headed to the National Maritime Museum, which is free. Tomorrow, we will go to the Royal Observatory and the Cutty Sark, which require tickets.

It was a perfect day, though I has glad I had Google Maps, because navigating Southeast London without it would have been a challenge.
