Some clients and I had a wonderful dinner at the Tuscan Grill last night. It is always worth it and I am never disappointed. A good beef carpaccio for an appetizer, a medium rare filet mignon and a couple of bottles of Duckhorn Merlot. Doesn't get much better than that.

Today we left about 0930 for a train trip in the domed rail car south to the Pacific (Panama City) and a bus excursion back. Both the train track and road parallel the canal and it never ceases to amaze me. We were able to see the new big dig, which is six months behind because the European engineers are experiencing the same issues that French and then US folks did 100 years ago. Our tour guide was a very colorful retired Army SGT Major Paratrooper (82nd Airborne) who couldn't have been better. Lots of great scenery, good company and educational in every way. This is my fourth trip to the Canal region and I learn something every time.

It's a hot sunny day in Columbia. As I had been here before, and had taken the grand tour of the Fort and surrounding city, we decided to not go off the ship. To me the city is worth about one stop. Since the dock is in the middle of the container port, there isn't even any shore side terminal to go shopping in. Perhaps Columbia will upgrade the stop in the future. We are tied up next to the Queen Victoria, which is sort of fun since I have some clients on board, also enjoying the sun. I am taking some clients to the Tuscan Grill Italian Steakhouse tonight, which is usually excellent. There is a cover charge of $25.00 for this restaurant. Tomorrow will be more interesting since we are taking a domed train car/bus excursion along the length of the Panama Canal - or at least a portion of it. I have heard from others that it's an interesting journey.

The second sea day on the way to Cartegena Columbia. Another warm sunny Caribbean day. The highlight was the Captain’s Club party for returning guests which was well done. The Captain spoke and some of the entertainers performed. Spent an enjoyable 30 minutes talking to a couple from Liverpool England. We told some sea stories since he had spent 5 years in the Royal Navy in destroyers.

An early morning today as we arrived in Grand Cayman. We were scheduled for a two tank scuba dive, and we were supposed to be in the theater waiting for the tenders at 7:45am. Up at six, the early risers breakfast and then on to the theater. There were 9 of us from the ship on the dive and the reefs and weather were spectacular. We were back on board by 1:30pm and relaxed the rest of the day until the sunset sail away.

Another quiet day at sea. The weather was warm and sunny and it was good to relax. We are having the first formal night tonight, so the decision of the day was what bow tie to wear with my tux!
