Marrakech

Today we finally had some time to visit Marrakech. We started off and drove by the largest Mosque in the city and then had a wonderful lunch at a restaurant that was in a old residence in the city. We then went into the old part of the city - 15th century - to visit and old mosque/residence that is now part of the city. Marrakech inside the ancient city walls, is the city we all see in movies etc. It is quite wonderful.

I had nothing scheduled for most of the day, which allowed some time for time zone correction.

I had a wonderful lunch along side the adult pool at the resort

Last night we had our opening reception and party at Chez Ali which was all things Moroccan plus a show called Fantasia similar to Medievil Times in format. We had more food than anyone could possibly eat, some good Moroccan wine and plenty of entertainment.

This adventure is to Morocco, for the American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) International Destination Expo in Marrakesh. I flew to JFK where I boarded a brand new 787 Dreamliner for the non-stop to Casablanca, Air Maroc's hub. We arrived early in the morning, and the airport was essentially shut down. Tough when you have a 3 hour+ layover. We did find an interesting companion in the waiting area. The Casablanca cat. I am not sure where it was traveling to, but it apparently had finished the paper!

Once on the ground in Marrakech, we took a short ride to the Four Seasons, where I will be staying for the next 5 nights before taking a three night tour to Casablanca and Fes. A beautiful view of late afternoon in the Atlas Mountains, and dinner of a beef tagine - typical local food.
